NASA has achieved a historic milestone by capturing the
first-ever high-definition images of a sunset on the Moon through the Firefly
Aerospace’s Blue Ghost lunar lander. The mission, which began on March 2, 2025,
concluded after 14 days, with the lander capturing stunning visuals of the Sun
disappearing beneath the Moon’s rocky horizon. These images, taken every 10
minutes over five hours, offer unprecedented insights into lunar phenomena,
including the horizon glow caused by dust particles. The data collected will
aid in understanding the Moon’s environment and support future lunar
exploration efforts under NASA’s Artemis program
